An Open Letter To Those Dealing With Toy Addiction

July 4, 2024

Dear Friend,

It will be okay.

I know you didn't mean to end up in this position. It seemed to happen all at once, and suddenly, you found yourself deep into collecting, with toys upon toys taking up too much space. What started as a simple enjoyment became overwhelming before you even realized it.

I know it's hard. You try to quit, and then you find yourself right back on it. But do not stop trying. Quit, try again. Quit, try again. Quit, try again. One day, it will be the last time.

Your love for vinyl designer toys is beautiful and unique. You don’t have to give it up entirely, but finding a balance is crucial. There’s a difference between a hobby and an addiction. A hobby brings joy and fulfillment, while an addiction affects your quality of life, seeping into every aspect and overshadowing other things that matter.

If your goal is to bring your toy collecting to a healthy, reasonable level, that’s wonderful. If you aim to stop completely, that’s equally commendable. The choice is yours, and only you can determine what’s best for your life.

Remember, progress is progress, no matter how small. Each time you try, you’re one step closer to achieving your goal. Be kind to yourself, and know that setbacks are part of the journey.

To help yourself, set a budget and stick to it. Establish limits on how many toys you can buy within a certain period. Find someone who can help you stay accountable, whether it's a friend, family member, or support group. It will take a lot of hard work, but it is difficult, not impossible.

You are not alone in this struggle. Many others understand the passion and the challenge that comes with it. Reach out, share your story, and find strength in the support of those who care about you.

Keep going, stay strong, and believe that you can find the balance you seek. It will be okay.

With hope and encouragement,
