How to tell your Labubu is fake

November 9, 2024

Boxes & QR Codes

  • Boxes: Many fakes come in genuine POP MART boxes, sometimes with real QR stickers, so the box alone isn’t a reliable indicator.
  • QR Codes: Only use fwsy.popmart.com for QR verification. Recent Macaron Labubus have QR codes on their tags; however, older versions may not, so don’t worry if it’s missing.

Colors & Tags

  • Foil: Fake Labubus sometimes have overly vibrant colors, like a banana-yellow foil
  • Tags: The MONSTERS logo should be centered, with THE MONSTERS text on the top left of longer tags.

Physical Details

  • Teeth: Labubu should have exactly nine teeth. Uneven or misaligned teeth paint is a red flag.
  • Ears & Hairline: Fake figures often have ears spaced too far apart or a hairline set too high.
  • Blush & Eyes: Authentic Labubu blush is softly diffused, not in harsh circles. Eyes should have clear irises without full black fill or scratches.
  • Skin Tone: Real Labubu has a pale, peachy color; pink or yellow tones often signal a fake.
  • UV Stamp: On the right foot, the UV stamp should depict Labubu sitting with legs out and arms raised. A simplified or incorrect design suggests a fake. Just a note, they just started recently doing this so previous Labubus will not have this. Don't fret if yours doesn't.

Buying Tips

For secondhand purchases, check reviews, request receipts, and avoid deals that seem too cheap. Counterfeiters are clever, but by following these guidelines, you can confidently distinguish a real Labubu from a fake. Happy collecting!
